Science of Reflecting

In today's New York Times is an interesting series about sleep and dream research. Some of the research included the effects of learning and memory and not just in nitght time sleeping either. Naps and resting as well. Dr. Matthew Wilson of MIT:
'He said that this process was probably similar to what goes on when people take a moment to reflect, without distractions, sifting through the experiences of the day, also flagging important details, replaying events. “The question is not whether this is an essential process; it is,” Dr. Wilson said.'
It's important to stop and spend time meditating on what we've done, what we need to do and stay on top of the wave of things coming at us. It can be a difficult habit to start, but apparently "essential."
