Books Read 2007 (part 7)

Well, duh again. I wasn't quite as exited as Hank was, but I was certainly curious to see how she ended it. I never for an instant thought she would kill off Harry Potter and anyone who did hadn't read this series close enough. You don't kill off the major character in a bildungsroman. It was a satisfying conclusion. Our heroes were in the woods a bit too long and there were a few heavy-handed Lord of the Rings references, but I think it's safe to say that this series will remain a treasure chest of wonders for kids of all ages for many years to come. If you haven't experienced them, the Jim Dale audio recordings are as close to perfect as I can imagine.

I think it helped that she always had the end in sight. When you know that you have a certain amount to books to convey your vision, you are able to end on an even keel. I have been jaded by television shows that ended in confusion and stupidity.
