A Tip for Parents

Dear Parents:

You know that comfy sweatsuit you like to wear on the weekends?  You, know, your favorite one?The one you think looks ok to run to the store in?

Don't wear those to the Parent-Teacher conference.

I'm just sayin'.

Very timely. I meet with my daughter's high school conselour today, so have on a nice navy blazer and gray slacks. I'll put on my Rick Riordan "Demi-God in Training" t shirt (or dress; it's so big!) when I get back to school, since I am reading the Hyperion Mythology Bee this afternoon. See? I might have worn that bright orange beauty to the conference otherwise!

I once had a parent show up for a conference in just that outfit. She was wearing a pair of house slippers with no socks as well.

In case you were wondering.

You are hilarious.

This has been the dominant outfit of the parents I've seen this week. And I've seen the slipper thing too. It's just bizarre.

Snark from my favorite ninja; I love it.

However, I have to say I don't really notice what the parents are wearing when they come to my conferences. I'm just so damned relieved that they actually showed up.
